Great song, it's a shame it's being used to push the false narrative that C02 is to blame for the melting ice sheets and climate change, when in reality geo-engineering is the culprit.
I saw The Association, perform this Circa 1967. Summer, 1969, Ft. Hood, TEXAS, I was with the rest of our Company given the COMMAND to train for RIOT CONTROL for the Detroit Riots. I KNEW that doing Riot Control would *VIOLATE* the U.S. Constitution, that the very ARMY ordering me ~had (re)taught me~ in basic training, not even NINE MONTHS earlier. I Enlisted into the U.S. ARMY, I was 17 1/2 years old, I never saw a DRAFT CARD, it was a from a Second Generation American VIEWPOINT, that I did so: My GRANDFATHER, was a Conscript INTO the Army of "Spiked Helmets", the WW I German Army had invaded Poland, "JOIN or DIE" at the point of a Rifle, my Grandfather ~JOINED~, Oor My Father would never have been BORN IN AMERICA. Grandpa "saw" the Rise of that little Corporal with the toothbrushed shaped mustache. HE said "Momma we go to America SOON"! I cry, from watching THIS VERSION, of REQUIEM for the Masses, I always considered it to be about JFK, RFK, Martin Luther King, NOW I SEE BOTH former thoughts, and . . . My tour in VIETNAM, 1969-70, TayNinh, TayNinh Provence, "the Fish Hook" surounded on THREE SIDES by the Ho Chi Minh Trail, where it turned EAST to Saigon. Dedicated to John Sharpe, who NEVER LEFT VietNam, but DIED in America. He was an RTO, in a SLOW BIRD, flew out of LAOS, and called in B52 strikes . . . BUT WHAT KILLED HIM, was his Memories as an HONOR GUARD, orking out of the Presideo, San Fransisco. The MOTHERS who haunted him in his sleep, I spent HIS Last 90+/- days on Suicide Watch with him. I WAS THE LAST PERSON TO HEAR HIS VOICE. HAPPY, he was going to an International MENSA Conference, Round Trip Airline PURCHASED. HOTEL Reservation, PURCHASED. Conference TICKETS, Purchased. ALL FOUND IN HIS *PURPLE CANDY APPLE Cadilac Glovebox*, we did not find his remains, for a week. I TOOK HIS CASKET FLAG to the "WALL", where he & I talked of going to, TO PAY RESPECT, to our Brothers & Sisters in WAR.
God bless Loudon Wainwright III. My wife passed a few months ago after 44 years of marriage. When I'm strong enough I will sing and play that song at her Memorial
That was nice. The Oak Ridge Boys recorded it for their first album on Columbia. Duane Allen sang lead. Tony Orlando and Dawn did it on their TuneWeaving album. That's the one with Tie A Yellow Ribbon. It would be nice if the remaining guys and Chuck made up. Life is too short.
I spent there six months! The best of my life. I really felt at home among that gentle and kind people. I understood the deep meaning of Homeland. Love to all English gentlemen and ladies from Argentina
Fun Fact: This was produced my Kenny Laguna. Laguna would go on to produce, manage, write and record with Joan Jet, and he continues working with her to this day
My Beyoncé just late November last year. This was one of his favorite songs. I miss him so bad every day. This song. Just brings facts so that he could remember me that we had especially on road trip. No, miss forever. You'll always be loved all weeks
Esta rola la están escuchando en el bar Jimmy Egan cuando fue descubierto por su cuñado Frank y hablan de ellos en el baño. Bueno es un rolón en la película código de familia (pride and glory)
I was about 8 years old and had my Dad put "Triumphs Ordinary Man" I to the cassette deck. My older brother shook his head and said to me, "that's not going to last". My Dad, in a fit, ejected it and said "at least in my generation, our songs had meaning and meant something". I quipped, "like A Dead Skunk In The Middle of the Road?". Told my wife of 23 years that story for the first time tonight. My Mom said "he's got you on that one".😂
I have to play this song everyday when I pick my grandkids from school they love it. They get crazy wild when we actually see a dead skunk in the road.😂😂😂
The Sex Pistols started playing this song at the beginning of their concerts - utterly glorious! Even John Lydon who is a staunch Republican and does not believe in the concept of the monarchy has praised Queen Elizabeth.
I was stopped in a major traffic jam for 10 minutes…right over a skunk’s carcass. I thought my Keeshond’s head was going to explode. Ah, them dirty ol’ stinky 🦨 🦨🦨s!!!
This is goated !

I used to have this song on a 1970s K-Tell 78 vinyl greatest hits album. Bought it new!
Pet sematary brought me here. Indeed, Stephen King had a really good taste in music...
This is the mother country in the whole world England 🏴

Fire song fam
It true I like it
Absolutely, the WORST video…I thought it would be Wainwright performing the tune…
O jesus what a disservice to the reasons why this song resonated with Americans in ‘72
Anyone here?
ruclips.net/video/Uu5hzc2Mei4/видео.html DEAD SKUNK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD.
There was one smell storm right down here 3 days ago. Even after you roll up the windows it just lingers on. 👃👀

Oh ... I feel it recalls the old good days ...
It's May 2024 and it's always a pleasure hearing this song from a great movie 😅😂
England is a shadow of its former self. Completely different place now. Sad decline of a once-great country.
Thank you for this song! I haven't heard this song since I was a kid, born and raised in Southwest Iowa. Many experiences with them Pole Cats!?
Best song ever my whole family could sing it when we smell the dead anything.
I miss the old England, the days of splendor and glory.
This is the thinking that brought about the disastrous Brexit initiative.
@@peterkleinman3526 There is no denying that the England of the past was more glorious and greater. Love England 🇬🇧 Love Britain 🇬🇧

This was 1973 when this song came out
Nice song but I don't believe in man made climate change.
Blubbing like a baby
Goosebumps man. Fucking goosebumps
